Members of the Board of Directors of All American Families Plus are volunteers residing in Delta County, Colorado. Board Members are to assist in setting policy for the organization and for overseeing compliance with the vision, mission and board-adopted plans and budgets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities of the members of the Board of Directors include
- Familiarity with purpose, missions, guiding policies and budget
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization in your community
- Work with the Executive Director and Business and Development Director to assure compliance with policies and plans
- Setting policy and making decisions for the organization at all levels through board vote
- Overseeing the local fund-raising efforts of Families Plus and participating in the national and state fund-raising efforts to assure the program is properly funded.
- Contribute financially to the Families Plus Hand Up Club

OUR PURPOSE
The board of directors is the governing body of a nonprofit. Individuals who sit on the board are responsible for overseeing the organization’s activities. Board members meet at least six times a year to discuss and vote on the affairs of the organization.Roles, Involvement. and Expectations of Board Members
- The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors. The President may sign, with the Secretary or any other proper officer of the Corporation designated by the Board of Directors, any deeds, leases, or other documents of conveyance or encumbrance of any real property owned by the Corporation. The President shall also perform all duties incident to the office of President and such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors from time to time.
- The Vice-president shall assist the President and shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the President or by the Board of Directors. In the absence of the President, the Vice-President shall have the powers and perform the duties of the President.
- The Treasurer shall be the principal financial officer of the Corporation; shall perform all duties incident to such office and such other duties as may from time to time be assigned to such person by the President or by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall make an annual financial report to the Corporation of the Board of Directors.
- Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will consist of the officers of the Corporation. This Committee will have full authority to act for the Board of Directors in managing the affairs of the corporation during the intervals between meetings of the Board. The presence of a majority of the committee members shall be required to authorize action.
COMMITTEES
Committees define the direction of the Families Plus program
- Organizational Excellence Committee: These individuals take an interest in the business functions of the organization from accounting, billing, meeting business statutes. Member of this committee work some with the business staff to help with accounting, billing, office procedures. The goal of this committee is to lend their expertise to making the business operations of Families Plus outstanding in every way.
- Clinical Committee: These individuals take special interest in the direct mission of Families Plus. They work with clinical staff to understand how clients are served. They pay special attention to always improving programs to better serve youth and to always collect information so the organization can demonstrate effective services.
- Outreach Committee: These individuals pay special attention to events, media messaging, publications, fundraising (along with all board members), and volunteer recruitment and retention. Families Plus is intertwined with all of Delta County to draw resources alongside of struggling famillies.

2018 cHAMPION PROGRAM IN INNOVATION
In 2015, Families Plus led a successful Federal Grant to further develop the model and lead behavioral health integration into health care in Delta County.
In 2018, Families Plus was 1 of 7 programs nationwide given a Champion Program Designation by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, specifically for innovation.
Our model program is featured on the Federal Rural Health Information Hub.

SERVICES OFFERED BY FAMILIES PLUS
A licensed mental health care professional is assigned to each child and his/her family. Their role is to coordinate services and consult with parents, teachers and the mentoring family.
Families Plus Therapist on our staff include Psychologists, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Marriage and Family Counselors. They are at the center, coordination resources and wraparound services ensuring the needs of each child and the family are being met. Therapists:

- Are experts in helping children work through behavior and emotional problems
- Present to back up the parents and grandparents
- Specialized training in trauma informed care, child and adolescent treatment, substances abuse treatments; family therapy; and system-of-care treatments
- Available to the families with whom they work for 24/7

Parent Partners are Families Plus staff members that are dedicated to supporting parents and families so they can better support children.
- Paraprofessionals that stand right alongside of parents to help them find resources to provide for their children using the philosophy “Where there is a will there is a way
- Help parents work with programs to get needed fee discounts so children can afford to participate
- Stand behind parents who are facing life problems as inadequate housing, broken cars, health problems, or legal entanglement.
- Participating parents love their children so much that they are willing to include others in tending the needs of their children
- Are typically highly resourceful - making very few resources stretch a very long ways
- Have high hopes and dreams for their children
- Community volunteers that offer to have one child into their home and activities as requested by the parents. These volunteers give the parent a break and provides additional experiences for learning and growing
- Can be a whole family with children in the home; an empty next family; a single adult
- Tend to form healthy relationships with the child and be available for the child indefinitely
- Understand the overwhelming importance of the child’s parents or family-care-givers to his or her development
- Offer their time and caring with no compensation other than seeing a child develop well
- Encouraged to have children tag along with their activities and to offer what they can easily give as far as time and not more
- Adults or older youth who enjoy inviting one child to share their hobby or passion with them. Examples would be fishing, weight lifting, quilting, gardening, going to public events…
- The possibilities are limitless for including one child. Children love new experiences and have as many interests as adults
- Adults who will allow an older youth to spend short periods at work with them to observe their work activities and maybe help in small ways
- Tag-along mentors can offer brief opportunities for youth to have experiences that are new and character building
