FAMILIES PLUS is an organization based on volunteer service and private donations.

LISTING OF VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS NEEDED:

FAMILY FRIEND'S are always needed.
Job Description:

  • when and where to pick up the gifts and to whom to deliver them
  • call the parents twice a month
  • offer personal support for problems and concerns
  • help the parents find donated good or services, especially in the event of a crisis
  • maintain a simple record of your work

Mini-MENTORS are always needed.
Job Description:

  • enjoys spending time with children or youth with some personal activities to share
  • willing to met with the youth at least six times during the year
  • participates in training before child involvement
  • maintain regular communication with the mental health care professional
  • maintain a simple record of time spent and report contacts and time to office
  • be interest in the child’s school progress
  • maintain the privacy of the child and family
  • application, child abuse registry check, and fingerprint criminal records check are required

 

VOLUNTEERS CURRENTLY NEEDED!!!!

 

ORGANIZER FOR THE ANNUAL FUND RAISING EVENT

This volunteer will assemble a committee to accomplish the following tasks:

  • generate ideas for an annual fund raising event
  • work with board of directors to select a fund raising event
  • plan the event
  • solicit supplies for the event
  • oversee the event

CELEBRITY VOLUNTEER!

Volunteer will assemble a committee to solicit funds from celebrities:

  • identify celebrities that are known to be charitable like television stars, sports figures, philanthropists, writers, directors
  • using the internet will locate addresses to reach these celebrities
  • will send a letter explaining family mentoring, including information
  • will send a letter explaining family mentoring and including information will follow up with e-mail, fax, and phone calls to solicit a response to the request

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR FOR THE ANNUAL PICNIC:

  • on the date and at the location identified by the Board, will plan for a picnic honoring volunteers that have contributed, and including all families participating in program
  • will plan activities for those attending to mingle and enjoy the evening
  • will plan for certificates or gifts of appreciation for volunteers
  • will arrange a public address system so that awards can be made
  • will send out invitations at least two weeks before the event
  • will arrange for a committee to clean up after the event

MOTHER'S DAY COORDINATOR

  • will plan a small mother’s day gift for all mentoring and natural mothers involved in the program (previously, forced bulbs, and geraniums have been given)
  • will try to get the gifts donated from local businesses or grown by local gardeners
  • will notify the Family Friend when and where to pick up the gifts and to whom to deliver them

FATHER'S DAY COORDINATOR

  • will plan a small father’s day gift for all mentoring and natural fathers involved in the program (previously, baked goods, and candy have been given)
  • will try to get the gifts donated from local businesses or baked by volunteers
  • will notify the Friend to the Families when and where to pick up the gifts and to whom to deliver them

COORDINATOR FOR BIRTHDAY OF FAMILIES ON OCTOBER 9th

  • will plan a small gift of appreciation for all mentoring and natural families and volunteers involved in the program (previously, helium balloons and candy have been delivered)
  • will try to get the gifts donated from local businesses
  • will notify the Family Friend when and where to pick up the gifts and to whom to deliver them
  • will plan a way to deliver gifts to other volunteers, especially to work places for publicity

SCRAP BOOK MANAGER

  • will get donated or purchase with FAMILIES PLUS funds single pages to be held in a central scrapbook of all events concerning FAMILIES PLUS
  • will receive newspaper articles, historical documents, and pictures from volunteers and staff
  • will assemble pages for the office scrap book and turn them into the office as soon as a page is full for display
  • will keep office informed of needed supplies or items for the scrapbook

OFFICE VOLUNTEER

  • assists with general administrative tasks
  • folding and mailing the newsletter
  • loading educational games onto the computer for the children
  • filing and general clerical duties
