What does Families Plus provide? Most of our families either find us by reaching out in a time of need or a referral from someone else in the community.  Listed below are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and more information to help you decide if you or a family you know would benefit from Families Plus. Don't hesitate to call us at 970-874-0464 or send us an email at familiespluscolorado@gmail.com

How do you know if you would benefit from our services?

Listed below are some challenges that are faced by children and families in our community. If any two of these circumstances or challenges are true for your child or your family you could benefit from being enrolled in the Families Plus program. Not all of these situations have to be true for you to be a part of our program.
  • Does one or more of your children have a behavior problem, mental health problem, or other challenges that are likely to be long term?
  • Is your family led by a single parent and do you feel like you lack reliable support?
  • Do you have difficulties paying rent, providing food, or struggle with transportation?
  • As a parent, do you struggle with challenges of your own such as a disability, chronic mental illness, chronically poor health, a history of substance abuse, legal problems, or difficulties with other agencies
  • Are you a grandparent who is the sole caregiver of a grandchild?
  • Has your child experienced trauma?
  • You have a child with a persistent, complex, and severe form of mental health issue that is more than you can manage alone? Even tough you have none of the other challenges or complications listed above?
If you said yes to any two of the challenges listed above you could benefit from Families Plus!

What does it mean to be a part of Families Plus?

Families Plus is an enrollment program for long term support to help parents and caregivers ensure that their children grow healthy and thrive. We do this by using our evidence based wraparound model. (read more about the wraparound model here) We don't provide short term financial support, rather we commit ourselves to working along side of the parent or caregiver to draw in whatever is needed for the child to develop healthy, skilled, well-educated, and of course happy.

Our goal is to listen to parents, listen to the challenges you face, the concerns you have and build a relationship and support system to help you address those concerns and challenges. You are the expert on your child.

Here are the services that are available for families Enrolled in the Families Plus program:

Not all of the families or children in our program need or use all of our services. Our therapist work closely with caregivers to decide what your child needs and what they will benefit from. We are flexible to your needs and we realize that your needs change over time.
  • A Mental Health provider that works with you and your child.
  • A tutor is available one evening per week to help any student.
  • Grade and attendance monitoring that will help ensure that your child is being successful in school.
  • A volunteer mentoring family that invites your child to spend time with them to give you a break and give your child interesting new experiences.
  • The opportunity to have job shadowing and skill building opportunities with volunteers in the community.
  • Parent Partners that are able to help support the family to obtain resources and supporting basic needs.
  • Support obtaining scholarships or other help to pay for sport programs.
  • Support to help find scholarship enrollment fees for youth clubs and for lessons.
  • Support to find scholarships for enrollment fees for summer camps.
  • Help with whatever life might throw at you!

How long does most children participate in our program?

As long as needed. We are here for the long term. It is up to you and our therapist to decide what is best.

What does it cost to be in the program?

It cost families nothing if you are enrolled in our Families Plus program. Our Mental Health Work time is billed through your medicaid, CHIPS, or health insurance. The rest of our service are covered by Families Plus through our donors, funders and grants! All we ask for is your guidance in working with us to help your children!

Do I have to live in Delta County?

As of now, our scope is strictly Delta County. But if you happen to live in an adjacent county but Delta is where you work or your children go to school we can work with you.

How do I get enrolled in Families Plus or help someone I know get enrolled in Families Plus?

To get started simply call our office at 970-874-0464 and tell us that you are interested in enrolling your child in, or you know a family that would benefit from being a part of, Families Plus. We will schedule a time to meet with one of our therapists so that they can go over the details and assess if the family or your child will benefit from Families Plus!

What if I don't think I need full wraparound services?

Our therapist also see regular community clients outside of the Families Plus program. If you or a loved one is facing a challenge, battling with depression or anxiety, or maybe you just need someone to talk to.
