It truly takes a village to raise a healthy child
Become a part of the Delta County village

Become a Mentor or Mentoring Family
Our unique mentoring program is the most VITAL part of our children's success.
This truly makes a difference in a child's life
.
Call the office at 970-874-0464 to learn more about mentoring and other volunteer opportunities or continue reading below:

These relationships enrich the lives of both you and the child you mentor. Our mentoring program is what allows our children a safe haven from the chaos of their home life, a way to see that there are more opportunities in life. Our wrap around mentoring program is the origin of Families Plus and over the past 20 years has made the greatest difference in the children we serve.

Here is how it works:
We work with you to pair you with a child that is a part of our program. All you have to do is spend time with them once a week or once a month, whenever you have time. This can be having them over with your family for dinner or whatever you do with your time. Overtime you hopefully will build a relationship that will continue to grow.
ANY ONE can be a mentor, single, newlywed, with an existing family, retired.
Common Misconception:
  • "Will have to spend extra money and time to entertain them?" All we expect is for you to spend your time how you normally would, just bring them along. Whether you have them over for dinner, take them with you on a weekend fishing trip or go to the movies, or hang you in your back yard.
  • "I don't know how to 'fix' a child" It isn't your job to psychoanalyze them and give them life advice, that is what our licensed therapist are for that they visit weekly. All we need you to do is be there, hangout with them, and be a role model.
  • "What will their real family think?" In twenty years of experience, all of our families have been grateful to have someone to help give them a break. You are source of support.

Be a part of our Tag-Along program!
Shadowing is a gateway to new interest, skills and experiences.

Are you a business owner? Maybe you have a pass time like fly fishing, hiking, paddle boarding, or fixing up your house or car. These are all valuable experiences for kids, especially those who come from poverty. Whether you run an automotive shop, store, restaurant, or office we have a program for you!
Our Tag-Along program is businesses that have children and teens with an interest in their field shadow once a week or once a month. This allows children and teens to see career options and a great way for them to find more role models in the community. It is a very rewarding program and we are willing to work with you as much as you are available.

The Tag-Along program is also available to individuals who are not quite sure about being a full mentor but have something they would like to share this is a great way to get your feet wet into our programs.
